When pages take up too much room or information is not as current as I would like, I use this "Library" page as a reference for research & as a storage of my genealogy information, including miscellaneous genealogy documents.
The Patent on the improvement of Fire Place Fenders of James Lee Old. Note his brother (actually half-brother), Henry Clay Old, witness the document & the drawing has the signature of James Old. The autograph of my ancestor!
This 1850 U.S. Census is remarkable because it records 3 generations of James Old & the matriarch Jane Lee (Davidson), mother of James Old's wife, Mary Lee. Note they live in Ward 3 Allegheny County of Pennsylvania. So with Jane Lee (Davidson) & James Old Sr. we see the 6x great grandparents of the Old family. If there is one document that fulfills all expectations of my family genealogy, this is it!! Fantastic document.
Below, in this 1860 U.S. Census James Old has remarried and added 5 more children to his family. We now know from records of Death Certificates, that Martha is Martha J. Haggerty, 2nd wife of James Old. Also Frank Maffat Old's middle name, may of come from the partner of James Old in the Brass foundry business. (Maffat).
In this 1870 U.S. Census, listed again are 3 generations of James Old. Anna Jane Old is missing, she died in 2/11/1863, leaving James Lee Old the ONLY survivor of the Mary Lee/James Old marriage (m.30March1843). Ella Sylvia Old name has been changed from Sylvia E. Old of the 1860 Census, somewhat notable.

Below is the 1900 U.S. Census on the James Lee Old/Anna G. Andrew. The census shows that Anna G. is a widow & living with her son, James L. Old. The grave sites of James Lee Old remains to be found. Anna G Andrew is buried in Highwood Cemetery in Pittsburgh. James L Old is not buried with her, since they lived their lives in Pittsburgh, their grave sites likely is in Pittsburgh. It's a mystery.
