1. To update our family documents now that we know more about the James Old, Martha J. Old, Mary (Lee) Old from the Allegheny Cemetery records. For example, we can now say for sure that James Old was married twice, to Mary Lee and following her death in 1850 to Martha J. Old. Martha's maiden name is unknown for now. Also we know that James Old's father (Sr.) lived with the family in Pittsburgh, PA. and we know his birth/death dates (1782 - 1872), he lived to his 90th birthday! Since Elizabeth Old is buried next to him it may be that she was his wife. Immigrating to the USA in 1826 would make our "James Old" 8yrs old at the time. Elizabeth Old could be Sr.'s wife and mother to James Old.
2. The next item on our "bucket list" is to find photos of our early ancestors. It would be so nice to have such photos. Descendants of James Old/Mary/Martha may just have them!
3. My trip to Pittsburgh, PA has yet to take place. I would like to research our family history in that city. The Senator John Heinz History Center has extensive Pittsburgh records as well as the papers of Lily Lee Nixon. Perhaps there are records on the lives of the James Old family.
4. We need better planning for our Old Family Reunion. Cousin Sherry has mention that mailings should be use to get the information out to our family. So mailing lists need to be made. Also we may need a new site for our reunion, a return to the old site in Waterville, Ohio may be used again. The rental costs (and rainy weather) is in the equation as well. A return to our "ancient" Side Cut Park site might also be considered, I think there is a indoor shelter there as well. Early planning will yield lots of ideas, whole family participation, and enthusiasm for a great turn out. This web page was thought to be a good venue for information, but many family members do not use computers. So mailings is indeed a good options for a successful Old Family Reunion in 2013.
