Now back to Lily Lee Nixon.
The 1900 census shows daughter, Lily Lee Nixon, Age 10. Another daughter is listed, Bessie Nixon, Age 16, this is a mystery since the history tells of only one daughter, Lilly Lee Nixon. At age 16, Bessie Nixon would be born in 1884, John Grant & Mary were married 2May1888. (so a step-sister??). John Grant Nixon is listed as a farmer living in Harmar Township, Allegheny, PA. Mary E. (Lee) Nixon is shown born in 1854 and her father born in New Jersey and her mother born in England. All of this "fits" well with the paper "Our Lee Family", except we found, apparently, a step-sister of Lily Lee Nixon, Bessie Nixon!
The 1910 census shows daughter, Lily Lee Nixon, age 20 and her mother, widowed! It's hard to interpret but it looks like they are "renting" the farm.
The 1920 census shows Lily Lee Nixon, age 30 living in "Lower Burrell, Westmoreland" and teaching in public schools. Her mother, Mary (Lee) Nixon is age 66.
The 1930 census shows Lily Lee Nixon is age 40 and is a "roomer" at 57 Campus St. She is a teacher in public schools. (Her last teaching position was at the Peabody High school in Pittsburgh, PA) The location of the farm she grew up on so far evades me. I do know that it was located 15 minutes from Pittsburgh, PA. It needs more research! All this information matches well with the intro to the Papers of Lily Lee Nixon.
