Interesting

I posted the grave sites and death certificates of both William Lee and his wife, Elizabeth.  It's interesting that their grave sites  no longer exists.  In the 1950's all of the graves at Ronaldson's Cemetery were re-interred in a section of Forest Hills Cemetery in Philadelphia.  Why they would destroy the original grave stones and replace them with bronze plaques, can only be surmised. The history of Ronaldson's Cemetery is interesting and can be found on the internet.  I have some original photos of the cemetery as well as what the land looks like today (it's a baseball field!).  Find them on the "Photo page".
It's interesting that the "Lee family" settled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  It should not surprise us that,  with the Moray Firth (Gaelic for inlet of the North Sea) flowing through Inverness, Scotland as the Loch Ness (the same "Nessie" of the Loch Ness Monster fame), this river Ness would be replaced by the Allegheny River joined with the Monongahela River to form the headstream of the Ohio River.  All this found in Pittsburgh, PA.  Not the seawaters of Scotland but the rivers of America.  All this to preserved the "clan" of the Lee family.  What a nice Family Reunion they must of enjoyed!!
I recently printed "The Lee family - Inverness, Scotland to USA"  directly from theoldfamily.com site.  It worked great but the print size was too small.  I need to fix this, my eyes cannot read this with any degree of comfort.  Maybe it's time to change back to the "embedded document" feature of this host site.  I'll work on it!  My intention is for our family to print out and add to our family history.  The idea is that the more copies of our family history in existence, the more likely it will take on a life of it's own and others will continue to add to it.

The Lee Family Tree

I've tried to put together the family tree of the William Lee family of Inverness, Scotland.  Looking over the info, I now believe that James H. Old and Mary Lee married on 30March1843 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  They had two children:
Anna Jane Old, b. 1846 - d. 1863 (18 yrs)
James Lee Old, b. 1848
If Mary Lee died in 1850 and is buried in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, then James H. Old did indeed re-married (Martha Lee) and had 7 more children:
Henry Clay Old, b. 27Oct1853 - d. 22March1920
William Wright Old, b. 1854 - d. 31August1916
Robert Howard Old, b. 9May1857 -
Frank Moffat Old, b. 3April1859 -
Ella Sylvia Old, b. 1860
Fannie B. Old, b.  Nov1861
Desima Old, b. 1870
All were born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Also I understand that Anna Jane Old died in her teens, 18 yrs, leaving James Lee Old our only tie to the Lee Family History!  I was thinking that we are a very lucky family.
With this in mind I will now try to put together the Lee Family tree and you will see that we know a lot of information  on the early clan of William Lee.
Wife and me tried to get to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see "the sites" as well as the Old family graves in Allegheny Cemetery.  Unfortunately, with the Steelers as well as the University's Panthers are playing at "home" each weekend, we now plan to visit when the football games are out of town!
So look for the story of the Lee Family of Inverness Scotland, death certificates on William Lee and his wife Elizabeth (Thompson) Lee, and a start on the Lee Family Tree.  I also have some more photos ... look for all of this soon!
