The saga goes on. Out of 13 graves on this site, a plot map shows 4 grave markers. These markers indicate Martha J. Old, Mary Old, John P. Old (an infant/child), and William Old (an infant/child). James Old lies between his two wives: Martha J. Old & Mary Old. A big surprise to me, is that Mary Lee's mother is buried in this plot too. She is Jane (Davidson) Lee. The last part of her life was spent in the farm home of her daughter/husband, Isabella & William Wiley. This home is located in Ripley, New York. This plot map also list's the interment dates as well as a so called "interment number" which stays with the grave records of the cemetery. This is yet another interesting document on our ancestors of James Old. I am thankful to the Allegheny Cemetery staff (esp. Debby) for their kind assistance.
A recent email from a member of the findagrave.com team, shows a linear map of the Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I also have of photo of the grave sites of the Old family plot, Plot 39. Sadly, the photo shows NO grave markers! We thank this member, "Tom" for his time and effort. We appreciate your results very much, THANK YOU, Tom.
The plot map does show both this plot & section belonging to the Old family. Now I'm waiting for emails from the cemetery's office, they tell me there are markers on the family plot. It's time to visit Pittsburgh, PA. Find the photos on the "Grave Markers" page.
In researching our family grave sites I often visit the internet site findagrave.com
How these graves find there way to the internet site is interesting. There are so called "grave yard junkies" ( and others too) who research and post the graves on the internet. I am thankful for these people who provide photos of graves we may never visit and see.
This is the case of our Uncles Dave Old & Thor Pedersen, who I accidentally found on the site recently. I post their grave site on the "Grave Markers" page. At this time of the year with our upcoming Family Reunion (Sunday, August 26, 2012) I am reminded that it was Thor & Dave that donated our great family banner, a few years ago. You can see this banner on the "Announcement & Events" page, as well as at our reunion. This post is in their memory and their gift which gives our reunions lots of love. Thanks Dave & Thor !
I remind us all of the upcoming Reunion. Make your plans to attend early, I keep praying for a great turnout. See "ya all" soon !
Slowly I keep finding grave sites of our ancestors. This time I found Robert James Old, the first child of James Lee Old/Anna G. Andrews (our great-grandparents !) He was a dentist on 408 Federal St., N. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was known as "Bert" and was married twice (maybe 3x), his first wife was Amy Ethel Hough, 1876-1907. They had 3 children: Kenneth, Robert Hough, and Ethel Old. I have not found photos of Amy Ethel Hough's grave, although she is buried in Hoffman Cemetery in Smithton, Pennsylvania, Westmoreland County, which is her family's site (her father was a Reverend). Somewhere out in the U.S. are photos of this family. Someday I hope to find them!
Check the "Photo" page for this grave.
I hope that everyone has the date, time, place of our OLD FAMILY REUNION. Come out and enjoy being together once again as a FAMILY.
I am reviewing and changing the "History and Genealogy of the OLD Family" page. I think the change makes it easier to follow our family history. The nine (9) documents that I have identified and published, are the real story of our Lee & Old families. So I began with a quick Summary and then listed the 9 documents as references. All of this information can be downloaded and saved or printed.
Finally, with recent bad weather in West Virginia, the death of my wife's mother, and internet troubles as well, I have just now found my way to this family webpage. The best webpages are those that are constantly being updated and show recent activity. I try to make this site active, but family life, work, weather, internet problems, etc. keeps me from my best expectations. This site and domain name are now good thru November, 2012 plus two more years. So the site is secured for almost 3 years and my commitment to our family webpage is very much alive! As always, let me know how I am doing ... lol.
OUR "OLD FAMILY REUNION" WILL BE SUNDAY - AUGUST 26, 2012 AT REIGHARD PARK, WAUSEON, OHIO. WE HOPE FOR A GREAT TURN OUT FOR THIS ANNUAL FAMILY EVENT. MAKE PLANS EARLY AND COME ON OUT !
